PRESS RELEASE: Banyan Productions in Philadelphia has recently received the go ahead to produce a daily afternoon documentary series for The Learning Channel called "Reunion" which will begin airing in the fall of 1998. Over the next nine months, we plan to produce 40 to 45 half-hour programs each featuring a compelling story that occurs within the context of a school, family, military or other type of reunion.

Each half-hour episode of "Reunion" follows two or more individuals as they prepare for, anticipate and experience a reunion. Over the course of one full day, the camera follows them separately, and then together, as they encounter people and places from their past and rediscover the details of their relationships and experiences together. The event becomes a colorful backdrop for people to tell their stories, express their emotional journeys and celebrate their coming together. Life-changing experiences and humorous stories from the past are retold during the hours leading up to the event and spontaneous encounters are observed and taped while they are actually happening. Photographs, archival materials and location footage contribute to the verite-documentary approach to the event.

"Reunion" will not take a tabloid talk show approach to the event. Banyan Productions is proud to have a strong track record and reputation for high quality, informative and sensitive reality-based programming including such shows as "A Wedding Story," "Travelers," "On The Inside," and "Home Matters." Our intentions are to observe and listen and to let real people tell their own stories in straightforward, honest and entertaining ways.
