Grace Eleanor Sible 12/29/2002 BETTENDORF, Iowa -- Grace Eleanor Sible, a resident of Bettendorf, died Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, at Bettendorf Healthcare Center, Bettendorf, following an extended illness. A Service of Memory will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at McGinnis, Chambers & Sass Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Interment will be private. A Celebration of her life will be 5-8 p.m. Monday in the Mozart Room at the Lodge (formerly Jumer's) in Bettendorf. All friends are invited to join the family at this time to share their memories of Grace. Memorials may be made to Movement Disorder's Research, in care of the University of Iowa Foundation, Iowa City, Iowa. She was born Feb. 24, 1937, in Britt, Iowa, the daughter of H.M. and Eleanora (Friedericksen) Madson. She married Howard Sible in Eldridge on June 7, 1959. Grace graduated from the Iowa State Teacher's College at Cedar Falls, Iowa, and earned her master's degree from Western Illinois University, Macomb, Ill. Her teaching career spanned over 25 years, many of which were spent as a reading teacher at West High School in Davenport. She retired in 1988. Her memberships included the Iowa State Educational Association and the National Education Association. In her leisure time, Grace enjoyed swimming, reading, sailing and water skiing. She was a life-long learner and also loved to travel, listen to music and care for her garden. Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Howard; her daughters and son-in-law, Jennifer and Joe Burke, DeWitt, Iowa, and Kristine Sible, Bettendorf; her sons and daughter-in-laws, Grant and Donna Sible, Austin, Texas, Michael and Meisha Sible, Savage, Minn., and Anthony and Vickie Sible, Bettendorf; her grandchildren, Jordan, Taylor and Scott Burke, Alex and Jane Sible and Amanda, Jessica and Pete Sible; her sisters and brother-in-law, Rhoda Glen and Lyle Ludeke, Stanardsville,Va., and Beulah Rumeliote, Mason City, Iowa; her sister-in-law, Carol Madson, Britt; and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Roberta and Dave McLaughlin, Princeton, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her sister, Eunice Wyatt; her brother, Holger Madson; and by her parents.
